Auctions Auctions and Salerooms RU Listed ?
Buying at a Specialist Auction/Saleroom Caveat emptor - Let the buyer beware. The list for different types of auctions and salerooms grows by the week, we will try and list the hard to find out about auctions. We have listed some of the not easy to find specialist auctions through out the Uk. These type of auctions are not usually held weekly, bi-weekly, or even monthly but as and when the auction house has managed enough sale lots to have a good auction. Many only have a yearly one such as certain charities and auction oddities. Always try an attend a auction viewing prior to the auction, this is usually one or two days before the sale, to view the lot/s you are interested in buying. Some auctions/salerooms will give you a bidding number or a paddle with a number on, for you to bid at the auction. Always handle the lot/s so you can check for any damage as well as see the overall condition of the sale lot. Do buy the auction catalogue for not only listing all sale lots of the sale, sometimes it lists the auction estimate of each sale lot, this is a good figure to work on. All conditions of the sale will be listed, if unsure of anything ,do ask at the auction office or a member of the auction team. See if there is a auction guide price to the lot ..if not as the auctioneer for a rough estimate on the lot. Always check in the auction catalogue for the rates of commission before you start bidding, they will range from a few % right up to 25%..this is added on to the final auction price as well as vat added to the commission price.. Please remember that once the gavel has bid hit down and sold this is a legal contract between you and the auction/saleroom, so be sure not to be carried away with your bidding, set your self a top limit price.
